Business Central App For Teams

Microsoft Teams offers a Business Central app that you can install for free. From Business Central, when looking for “teams” you can see an information page where you can click on.

You can also go to the “Apps” section in Teams and look for the Business Central app. You can easily install it by clicking on “Add”.

You will have to log in to your environment. Once ready, you can start using it.

Contact Search

You will see that the Business Central icon in the bottom chat bar has been added. If you click on it, the following search window will appear.

If you right-click on it, you can pin it to the main bar or go to the settings of the app.

You can start searching for your contacts, this is how it will look like.

Once you select it, you can see a preview of it:

Card Details

When you click on “Details” you will access the contact card in a window from Teams. It will only grant access to the card and the information related to it. For example, the customer card, sales, statistics, etc.

You can even create orders for the customer once you access its customer card.

Link Preview

As we saw, the contact card has a preview once you paste it in Teams. However, the preview also works for anything you find in Business Central.

For example, you can copy the URL from the browser of Business Central of an item and paste it in Teams and it will create a preview similar to the following one.

The same as the contact card, when you click on “Details”, you will have access to the item card.

If you copy and paste a list link you will see something similar to the below image. With just the name of the list and the type of page:

Share To Teams Directly From Business Central

When you click on the “Share” button in a Business Central page (can be a list or card), you will find a Teams icon with “Share to Teams” on it. You can share with any person, group, or channel of your organization.

A window like the following will pop up. Here you can search for the destination of your Business Central link. After choosing one or more than one recipient, you can click “Share”.

Business Central Tabs In Teams

Microsoft Teams has the possibility to add Tabs of Business Central. Just add a new tab.

And choose the Business Central app.

On the following page, you can choose the environment and company from where to show the data.

You can choose the tab content and even choose any custom views if it has any in Business Central.

We could choose “Balance > 5000” because it was already created in Business Central:

Once you save the changes, you can see the result.

If you want another content that is not available, you can always choose “Paste a Business Central link instead” and paste there anything you want.

Now, within the pinned tab, you can collaborate with your peers on the chat.

You can find all the information about Teams integration in the Microsoft documentation.
